The Tanzania Explorer Program is one of the many Africa

programs that we offer our international volunteers and
interns overseas
in Tanzania, Africa.
This program is now
offered throughout the year.
The
Tanzania Explorer Program
The Tanzania
Explorer Program
guarantees you great value for your money. The package is highly
subsidized and incorporates international internship work or volunteer
services abroad with about a week of jungle
wildlife viewing safari plus learning the local language, Swahili.
Participants also get to stay with a Tanzanian family and get a taste
of
what it is like to live in Tanzania.
In addition,
overseas interns and volunteers abroad get a taste of
Tanzania’s
cultural and environmental activities by visiting various parts of the
city of Moshi. Thereafter they take time to help out the children at a
local orphanage.
The
Tanzania Adventure program also provides volunteers and interns with a
3 day
tour of famous Lake
Manyara, Ngorongoro
and Serengeti
national parks.
A typical two
week
volunteer Tanzania Explorer adventure program schedule is as
follows:

Day
1:
Arrival and pick up from the Kilimanjaro International Airport, in
Arusha, Tanzania and transfer to host household home; in-country
registration.
Day 2: Orientation. About 2 to 4 hours lecture at the home of your
host. Topics covered during orientation lecture will include Tanzania
culture, history, customs, politics, geography, and necessary health
precautions, and various other topics, such as the diversity of
Tanzania
life. Afternoon is free for exploring Arusha-Moshi region and getting
to know
your host family.
Day 3: Morning - Swahili Language classes for 2-3 hours. Afternoon will
be spent taking a guided tour of downtown Moshi, including the United
nations Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (UNICTR),
and the East
African
Parliament buildings; famous
Tengeru market and the local curio
market
where interns abroad and international volunteers can buy curios and
interact with local people.
Day 4: Saturday, visit two important attractions in Moshi including the
Snake
Park and the Maasai Cultural Museum.
You will have an opportunity
to take a camel ride, pat a few friendly snakes and simply see the
non-friendly ones. Other animals to see at the two sites include,
different species of snakes like the python and cobra, tortoise,
crocodiles, different species of birds, peacocks and zebras. At the
Maasai Cultural Museum, experience the traditional and cultural
settings of the Maasai, East Africa’s most celebrated
indigenous community.
Day 5: Sunday- Free. Volunteers abroad and overseas interns can join
the family at their weekend activities or explore Tanzania life on
their own with the advice of the coordinator and host family - visit
various parts of the city of Moshi or Arusha.
Day 6: Swahili Language classes (2-3 hours). In the afternoon overseas
volunteers and international interns tour will drive to Lake Duluti a
small crater lake east of Arusha along the Moshi Road. Walk along the
nature trail around Lake
Duluti and enjoy the site
and feel of the
serene surrounding. See if you can spot the over 130 different bird
species that call this park home including kingfishers, osprey,
buzzards, eagles, doves, storks and babets. Go on a canoe ride on this
beautiful East African Rift Valley Crater Lake, and if you have the
tools, take time to do some fishing. Alternatively visit USA
river zoo
and interact with the Zebras, giraffes and lots of birds at this zoo.
Day 7: Morning: End of Swahili Language classes for 2-3 hours.
Afternoon, program evaluation and free time.
Day
8-9: Volunteer or internship work at a Tanzania
orphanage.
Day 10-12: Tanzania
Rift Valley Wilderness Safari: (3 Days)
In
Tanzania’s greatest Rift Valley wilderness parks adventurous
volunteers
and overseas interns will encounter over 450 bird species, and numerous
species of animals including gazelles; impala; buffalo; wildebeest; the
famous tree climbing lion; hyena; baboon; giraffe; hippopotamus, lions,
leopards, elephants, rhinos, zebras, thousands of wildebeests, etc.
Day
10: Lake Manyara: After
about 9 days of work, its time to have fun - overseas volunteers and
Africa interns on this program leave Moshi, early morning and proceed
to Lake Manyara National Park for game drive. Picnic lunch en-route,
dinner and overnight at Campsite.
Day
11: Ngorongoro: Depart
Lake Manyara for a half day game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater.
Descend 2,000 feet into the crater floor – the
world’s largest caldera.
This is the best place to see black rhino, lions, lots of colorful
flamingoes and other water birds, the leopard, cheetah, hyena,
antelopes. In the late afternoon drive back to campsite for lunch. In
the late evening you may have the walking safaris at the coffee
plantations, watching birds, waterfalls and returning back to campsite
for dinner and overnight.
Day
12: Tarangire-Moshi:
Morning drive from Karatu to the Tarangire National Park. This park is
spectacular in the dry season when many of the migratory wildlife
species come back to the permanent waters of Tarangire River. Huge
herds of wildebeest, zebras, elephants, elands and oryx gather to stay
in Tarangire until the onset of the rain when they migrate again. In
the late afternoon drive back to Moshi.
Day 13:
Break, free
day. Program Evaluation.
Day 14:
Farewell
and Departure, those staying for 2 weeks.
Those staying
longer transfer to international volunteer/internship project
placement.

Unless
otherwise provided, all our Tanzania safaris are basic
camping safaris
and accommodation
is in shared safari tents. Volunteers and
international interns who would like a more luxurious safari should
contact us for special arrangements- which will inevitably cost you
more.
The Precise schedule of the trips may be changed to fit into local
circumstances.

Transportation:
Volunteer
and internship placements in Tanzania
are
within walking distance of the host home. You can also take local
public transport to and from your volunteer project work. The cost will
normally not exceed USD 1.00 per day.
Schedule
of work:
Normally Mondays
to Fridays; 4 – 8 hours a day. Most weekends are free to
explore Tanzania and Zanzibar.
Age Limit: 18 and
above, from all countries of origin and
residence. Persons under 18 are allowed provided they must be
accompanied by someone aged 21 and above who will
be a
guardian or community leader such as a school shaperon, priest etc.
Length
of
Program: We have
volunteer
abroad and international internship opportunities for long term,
short-term periods and for groups. You
can volunteer or intern for a minimum
of two (2) weeks to 6 months with possibilities for one year placements
for the right candidates.

Groups of more than two people are
guaranteed a group discount.
