beaches; animals and plants in the wild, without spending a lot of time
or money on that part of their visit.
These programs
include volunteer placement plus jungle or
beach safaris ranging from 2 days to 10 days.
The
"Best of Tanzania" Jungle Adventure-Safari Program
This
program offers volunteers abroad and international
interns in Tanzania, 8 days of game and nature
viewing expeditions/safaris in Tanzania, East Africa.
Within these 8 days you will be able to tour, Ngorongoro
volcanic crater mountain a 2000
feet deep, 260 km wide caldera teaming with thousands of
animals including Zebra; wildebeest; black rhino; black-maned lions;
leopard; cheetah; hyena; elephants; warthog; impala; buffalo;
hartebeest; eland; and antelopes. The park also hosts
hundreds of birds.
You wil alsol visit a site of great archeological importance, the Olduvai
Gorge, home to some of the
earliest ancestors of man. But this safari will not end there; instead
it will take you to the Serengeti
and Lake
Manyara National Parks. These
parks with their pristine lakes are located on the Rift Valley Floor,
about 130 km from Arusha, one of Tanzania's largest cities.
Lake
Manyara is a key place for bird
viewers with about 350 bird species. It also abounds with wild animals
including Gazelles; impala; buffalo; wildebeest; the famous tree
climbing lion; hyaena; baboon; giraffe; hippopotamus.
This program is
mostly combined with the language program but is also offered on its
own.
A Typical 2 week schedule
of the Best of Tanzania
Adventure plus volunteer/internship package looks as
follows:

Day
1: Arrival and pick up
from the Kilimanjaro International Airport, in Arusha, Tanzania and
transfer
to host family home.
Day
2: Morning: registration and orientation. About
4 hours lecture at the home of your host. Topics covered during
orientation lecture will include East African culture, history,
customs, politics, geography, and necessary health precautions, and
various other topics, such as the diversity of Tanzania life. Afternoon
is free for exploring Tanzania life and getting to know your host
family.
Day
3-4: Volunteer or internship work at a Tanzania
orphanage.
Day
5-12: Tanzania Jungle Discovery Safari: (8 Days)
In Tanzania’s greatest Rift Valley wilderness parks
adventurous volunteers and overseas interns will encounter over 450
bird species, and numerous species of animals including gazelles;
impala; buffalo; wildebeest; the famous tree climbing lion; hyena;
baboon; giraffe; hippopotamus, lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos,
zebras, thousands of wildebeests, etc – over a million
animals in total.

5: Lake Manyara:
Day
5: Arusha: Arusha National
Park is a rich tranquil wilderness habitat, teeming with
animals
and birds. From the lush swamps of the Ngurdoto Crater to the serene
beauty of the Momela lakes and the rocky alpine heights of Mount Meru,
the terrain of the park is as varied as it is interesting. Major
animals seen at the park include Zebras, and leopards, black-and-white
colobus monkey, klipspringer antelopes, and more than 400 species of
birds.
Volunteers
and interns can hike up Mount Meru passing through forests of Spanish
moss and clover, before peaking at the open heath, spiked with giant
lobelia plants. Majestic Kilimanjaro can be seen clearly from the Meru
summit.
Day
6-7: Tarangire:
Morning drive from Karatu to the Tarangire National Park. This park is
spectacular in the dry season when many of the migratory wildlife
species come back to the permanent waters of Tarangire River. Huge
herds of wildebeest, zebras, elephants, elands and oryx gather to stay
in Tarangire until the onset of the rain when they migrate again. In
the late afternoon drive back to Moshi.
Volunteers
and interns can hike up Mount Meru passing through forests of Spanish

Day
8: Lake Manyara: After
about 9 days of work, its time to have fun - overseas volunteers and
Africa interns on this program leave Moshi, early morning and proceed
to Lake Manyara National Park for game drive. Picnic lunch en-route,
dinner and overnight at Campsite.
Day
9: Serengeti: Depart Lake
Manyara for Serengeti via Olduvai
Gorge with lots
of game viewing en-route. Olduvai is a world famous
archaeological site in which early human fossils were first discovered.
It has an amazing landscape that resulted from the tectonic forces,
which created the Great Rift Valley. Evening game drive. If you are
lucky you may witness the great Serengeti – Masai Mara
wildebeest migration.
Dinner and overnight at Serengeti campsite. Visit
Olduvai Gorge a site of archeological importance - home to some of the
earliest ancestors of man.
Day
10: Serengeti: A full day of
African wilderness experience in the
Serengeti. If you are lucky you may witness the great Serengeti
– Masai Mara wildebeest migration. Picnic lunch, Dinner and
overnight at Serengeti campsite.
Day
11: Serengeti – Ngorongoro/Olduvai: After
breakfast game drives
in Serengeti national park, then depart for Ngorongoro via Olduvai,
game viewing along the way. Picnic lunch en-route. Dinner and overnight
at Ngorongoro campsite. Alternative route may take you to
Karatu
Area, Mto wa Mbu or Olduvai.
Day
12: Lake Manyara- Moshi:
After
breakfast spend the morning gave viewing in Lake Manyara. Late
Morning, depart Manyara for Moshi arriving in
the afternoon.
Day
13: Free, program Evaluation.
Day
14: Departure for those
staying for two weeks. The rest transfer to placement project to start
of volunteer or internship work abroad in Tanzania.

Unless
otherwise provided, all our Tanzania safaris are basic
camping safaris
and accommodation is in shared safari tents. Volunteers and
international interns who would like a more luxurious safari should
contact us for special arrangements- which will ievitably cost more.
The Precise schedule of the trips may be changed to fit into local
circumstances.
Dar
es Salaam Moshi Transport:
For Dar es Salaam based
clients, transport
between Moshi (starting point of the safaris) and Dar es Salaam is not
covered. On average the flight costs about USD 200.00.

Accommodation and
Meals: Tanzania

local hostels and are provided two local meals per day; breakfast and
dinner.
Transportation:
Volunteer
and internship placements in Tanzania
are
within walking distance of the host home. You can also take local
public transport to and from your volunteer project work. The cost will
normally not exceed USD 1.00 per day.
Safari
Transportation:
Those taking the adventures from Dar will get assistance to arrange
travel between Dar and Moshi for the adventure tours. Cost of this
transport is on the client and would normally not exceed USD
100
by shuttle bus and USD 400 by air. Both modes of transport are normally
good and reliable.
Schedule
of work:
Normally Mondays
to Fridays; 4 – 8 hours a day. Most weekends are free to
explore Tanzania and Zanzibar.
Age Limit:
18 and
above, from all countries of origin and
residence. Persons under 18 are allowed provided they must be
accompanied by someone aged 21 and above who will
be a
guardian or community leader such as a school shaperon, priest etc.
Length
of
Program: We have
volunteer
abroad and international internship opportunities for long term,
short-term periods and for groups. You
can volunteer or intern for a minimum
of two (2) weeks to 6 months with possibilities for one year placements
for the right candidates.
Groups:
Groups of more than two people are
guaranteed a group discount.
