The Tanzania Adventure program provides volunteers and interns with a 3 day tour of famous Lake Manyara, Arusha and Tarangire national parks. A Typical two weeks schedule of the Adventure package looks as follows:

Day 1: Arrival, registration and introduction to the program in Arusha

Day 2: Orientation to the program  with 2-4 hour lecture on the history, culture and lifestyle of Tanzania. Afternoon is free.

Day 3-9: Placement with host family and beginning of Volunteer or Internship phase which entails placement with the allocated project eg orphanage.

Day 10-12: Tanzania Rift Valley Wilderness Safari: (3 Days)

In Tanzania’s greatest Rift Valley wilderness parks adventurous volunteers and overseas interns will encounter over 450 bird species, and numerous species of animals including gazelles; impala; buffalo; wildebeest; the famous tree climbing lion; hyena; baboon; giraffe; hippopotamus, lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, zebras, thousands of wildebeests, etc.

Day 10: Arusha: Arusha National Park is a rich tranquil wilderness habitat, teeming with animals and birds. From the lush swamps of the Ngurdoto Crater to the serene beauty of the Momela lakes and the rocky alpine heights of Mount Meru, the terrain of the park is as varied as it is interesting. Major animals seen at the park include Zebras, and leopards, black-and-white colobus monkey, klipspringer antelopes, and more than 400 species of birds.

Volunteers and interns can hike up Mount Meru passing through forests of Spanish moss and clover, before peaking at the open heath, spiked with giant lobelia plants. Majestic Kilimanjaro can be seen clearly from the Meru summit.

Day 11: Lake Manyara: After about 9 days of work, its time to have fun - overseas volunteers and Africa interns on this program leave Moshi, early morning and proceed to Lake Manyara National Park for game drive. Picnic lunch en-route, dinner and overnight at Campsite.

Day 12: Tarangire-Moshi: Morning drive from Karatu to the Tarangire National Park. This park is spectacular in the dry season when many of the migratory wildlife species come back to the permanent waters of Tarangire River. Huge herds of wildebeest, zebras, elephants, elands and oryx gather to stay in Tarangire until the onset of the rain when they migrate again. In the late afternoon drive back to Moshi.

Day 13: Break, free day. Program Evaluation.

Day 14: Farewell and Departure.

Unless otherwise provided, all our Tanzania safaris are basic  camping safaris and accommodation is in shared safari tents. Volunteers and  international interns who would like a more luxurious safari should contact us for special arrangements- which will inevitably cost more. The Precise schedule of the trips may be changed to fit into local circumstances. At least two parks will be covered.

Dar es Salaam Moshi Transport: For Dar es Salaam based clients, transport between Moshi (starting point of the safaris) and Dar es Salaam and any accommodation en-route are covered. On average the flight costs about USD 200.00; hotels go for USD 35 per night with bed and breakfast.
