Arrival and pick up from
the
Jomo
Kenyatta International Airport, in
Nairobi, Kenya and transfer
to host family home.
Day 2:
Morning: Registration and start of
orientation: International
volunteers and interns abroad have
about 4
hours
lecture at the home of your host. Topics covered during orientation
lecture
will include East African culture, history, customs, politics,
geography, and
necessary health precautions, and various other topics, such as the
diversity
of Kenyan life.Afternoon is free - explore Kenyan life and get to know

3-9:
Maasai Mara Nakuru Samburu
Day
3-8: As
a volunteer abroad or
overseas intern with this program you will visit the world famous
Maasai Mara game reserve and Lake
Nakuru national park, a
special
internationally protected bird and white rhino sanctuary and either
Samburu game reserve, Amboseli national park with a most thrilling view
of snow capped Mt Kilimanjaro in
Tanzania; Tsavo East and
Tsavo West
National park – Kenya’s largest wild animals and
plants conservation
park.
Day
3:
Maasai Mara Game Reserve:
Depart Nairobi in the morning
with picnic lunch en route to most famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve
ranked among the worlds top 50 dream destinations. Spend the afternoon
and the following day on game drives in Maasai Mara. This Great Rift
Valley reserve is home to thousands of wild animals including rhino,
buffalo, impala, water buck, lion, elephant, giraffe, Africa Buffalo,
zebra, cheetah and leopard. It is also seasonal home to thousands of
wildebeests that spend about half of the year here and the other half
in neighboring Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. Dinner and
overnight at the campsite.

4-5:
Maasai Mara Game Reserve: Continue
with the jungle tour of this Kenyan park. Dinner and overnight at the
campsite.
Day
6:
Maasai Mara/Nakuru: Leave
Maasai Mara after breakfast
and drive to Nakuru past lake Elementaita on the Great Rift Valley
floor. Dinner and overnight in a budget hotel.
Day
7: Lake
Nakuru/Samburu Game Reserve: Take
and early morning game
drive/safari
of lake
Nakuru national park and International Bird Sanctuary.
Lake
Nakuru Park
has been described as the
World’s
Greatest Bird Spectacle”.
This Kenyan
park has 450 bird species including the lesser and greater flamingo,
more than 56 animal species including elephant, leopard, cheetah,
rhino, hippo, lion, buffalo, Hyena, fox, waterbuck, impala, jackal etc
and various species of bats. The park has about 550 species of plants
and several animal viewpoints. Together with your group of
international volunteers and interns abroad, depart Nakuru after the
morning game drive/safari and head North towards Mt. Kenya with picnic
en route.
Later in
the day, proceed to Samburu Game Reserve with a game drive/safari
en route.
Retire for dinner and sleep at camp.
Day
8:
Samburu Game Reserve: Spend
the day on game viewing with meals and overnight at camp. This pristine
and less visited game reserve abounds with animal and plant species not
seen in southern Kenya's parks. You will come across species such as
the Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, kudu and gerenuk
almost
exclusive to the reserve. Other animals include lions, cheetahs and
leopards.
Day 9:
Samburu-Amboseli: Leave
Samburu early morning driving
South to Tsavo West national Park via the wind ward side of Mt Kenya
and via Nairobi, viewing nature along the road that winds through
amazingly diverse geographical landscape and human activities including
coffee and tea farming. Dinner and Overnight at a camp or budget lodge
Amboseli.

10-13:
Tsavo – Amboseli National Parks

Amboseli
Game Reserve: View majestic
snowcapped Mt Kilimanjaro, the
tallest
mountain in Africa, and Mt Meru, both in neighboring Tanzania. Roam by
the lakes and atop observation hill, a volcanic lava formation from
where you will watch wildlife from the larger part of the park.
Interact with the Maasai in about 6 community game ranches surrounding
the park. View key animals including the lion, rhino, buffalo, impala,
elephant, giraffe, Africa Buffalo, zebra, cheetah and leopard and more
in this great Kenyan park. Dinner and overnight at camp or budget
lodge.
Day
11: Drive out of
Amboseli animal park
towards Tsavo West
with picnic lunch enroute. In Tsavo
West, be fascinated by
diverse
features, wild animals and plants including large herds of pink
elephants, their pigmentation changed by the thin red soils of Tsavo.
Visit some of the best attractions of Tsavo including Mzima Springs, a
pool of natural spring water where an underwater glass observatory
allows you to view the hippo, barbells and crocodiles. Tour interesting
features including the spectacular volcanic cone called Shetani
(Devil’s) lava flow. Dinner and overnight at camp or budget
lodge.
Day
12: Tsavo West to Tsavo East National Parks: Take
a morning
game drive/safari
and probably view the rock hyrax, squirrels and mongooses and other
animals and plants. Afternoon - depart for Tsavo East National Park
with lunch enroute. If the weather permits, proceed to Galana River,
Aruba dam and spectacular Lugard falls. Dinner and overnight at the
camp or budget lodge.
Day
13:
Tsavo East -Nairobi. After
breakfast
leave camp for the last game viewing on your way to Nairobi. Picnic
lunch enroute. Arrive Nairobi in the afternoon.

14:
Rest, Program
Evaluation.
Note: Tsavo
East National Park in Kenya becomes impassable
during excessive rain and will sometimes be closed to the public. In
such cases the safari will concentrate on Amboseli and Tsavo West
national parks.
