1: Arrival
and pick up from the Jomo
Kenyatta International Airport, in
Nairobi, Kenya and transfer to host family home
Day
2: Morning: registration and start of orientation.
About 3 hours
lecture at the home of your host. Topics covered during orientation
lecture will include East African culture, history, customs, politics,
geography, and necessary health precautions, and various other topics,
such as the diversity of Kenyan life.
Afternoon is free for exploring rural Kenyan life and getting to know
your host family.
Day
3: Volunteers leave for
project early in the morning after breakfast.
Introductions held with project staff, and the host family.
Day
3-8: Volunteer or internship work. Volunteers are free to explore the
surrounding
areas in their free time.
Day
10:
End volunteer work. Farewell to the project and evaluation of the
program.
Day
11-13: Wilderness Kenya Safari: (3 Days)
After
about 10 days of work, its time to have fun -
overseas volunteers and Africa interns on this program visit the world
famous Maasai
Mara game reserve - the 7th wonder of the world.
Day
11:
Maasai Mara: Depart Nairobi
in the morning. Have Picnic lunch en route
to Maasai Mara Game Reserve. Spend the afternoon and the next day on
game drives in Maasai Mara. This Great Rift Valley reserve is home to
thousands of wild animals including rhino, buffalo, impala, water buck,
lion, elephant, giraffe, Africa Buffalo, zebra, cheetah and leopard. It
is also seasonal home to thousands of wildebeests that spend about half
of the year here and the other half in neighboring Tanzania's Serengeti
National
Park in Tanzania. Dinner and overnight at the campsite.

12:
Maasai Mara: Continue with game drives to the corners of
this world wonder. Dinner and overnight at campsite.
Day
13:
Maasai Mara- Nairobi: Morning
game drives in Maasai Mara. Depart
for Nairobi after game
drive arriving Nairobi in the afternoon.
Program and Kenya safari evaluation.
Day
14: End of Adventure Program. Departure
for
those staying for 2
weeks. Those staying longer return to host project placement.
Note:
Weekends are Free for volunteers to explore Kenyan life.
Africa Volunteers can visit the city of Nairobi and explore such places
as
Nairobi National Park about 7 km from the city center or Naivasha with
a fresh water lake, and Hells-gate game reserve.
Volunteers seek the advise of host family and program coordinator.
