Animal and Veterinary Volunteer Placements
This
program takes place in Kenya. It provides a unique opportunity
for
international
internships and
animal volunteer work
abroad; a
chance to learn about animals; about veterinary medicine in
general and specifically about the practice in rural Africa. For those
aspiring to join animal science programs and veterinary medical
colleges, this may be an eye opener
to your career path.
For others already enrolled in or graduated from
veterinary medicine schools, it will be an opportunity to practice your
skills in a foreign setting and learn about tropical animal diseases.
Graduates of veterinary schools or animal science programs are welcome
and encouraged to volunteer or intern abroad with our projects
in Africa.
International
volunteers and interns overseas in Africa
assist the
resident veterinary surgeon in his
many duties including handling animals and animal feeds, filling and
keeping animal records and handling medicines.
International volunteers
and interns abroad in Africa
are not be required to have prior knowledge of animal healthcare or
even
veterinary medicine. They will be provided with orientation that will
be sufficient for carrying out required voluntary service and/or
internship tasks.
International
volunteers and overseas interns working with animals will be
expected
to work for
between 3 to 8
hours a day.
